What size board should I rent if I have never surfed before?
Bigger is always better for learning! We recommend an 8ft or 9ft soft-top for first-timers. The extra volume and length provide maximum stability, making it much easier to stand up, paddle, and keep your balance.
Are soft-top boards (foamies) safe for beginners?
Yes, they are the absolute safest option. The soft foam deck and flexible rubber fins greatly reduce the risk of injuries, bumps, or bruises while you are learning how to handle a surfboard in the ocean.
Where is the best place to surf in El Zonte for beginners?
El Zonte has friendly beach break sections with rolling whitewash that are perfect for beginners. When you pick up your rental, our team will happily point out the safest spots to practice depending on the daily tides and swell.
Do I need to book a lesson, or can I just rent a board?
You can absolutely just rent a board to practice in the whitewash on your own! However, if it is your very first time, taking a lesson can speed up your progress. We focus strictly on top-quality board rentals, but we are happy to point you toward the best local instructors in town.
Can I swap my beginner board for a hard board if I progress quickly?
Definitely! With our flexible swap policy, once you master the soft-top and feel confident catching unbroken waves, you can upgrade to a funboard or midlength from our Intermediate Lineup to keep leveling up your skills during your trip.
